This is the same diesel engine that one used to find in Land Rover D2 and D3, some Jaguars and (perhaps) the odd Volvo...so this sort of idiocy has the right heritage.

It was/is actually a very good engine. The Territory iteration is ridiculously understressed too. Jaguar extracted a lot of horsepower from them with a couple of big arse turbos...
